Santiago del Chile

When you are coming from Patagonia and still carry Buenos Aires in your heart, Santiago may not seem a great destination. But while this untidy and ugly city lacks the romance of Buenos Aires, it’s also thriving with an incredible nightlife and has developed an interesting personality.

From 'cafe' con piernas' (coffe with legs), where coffee is served by half naked girls to businessmen, to an amazing set of cultural centre and an entire Barrio, Bellavista, full of bars and clubs, people of Santiago pour in the streets in summer. They eat their food, a weird and unhealthy combination of german and patagonic food, and like their drinks. Pisco, the peruvian licor, is used in almost every cocktail: combined with coke, "piscola", or with soda "pisco sour". But the real Santiago drink is called "el terremoto"(earthquake), an awful combination of white wine, fernet branca and pineapple ice cream... it will definitely shake you! people drink it while eating 'chorrillada', a plate made of fries, pork sausages, churrasco (beef), olives, cheese and fried eggs on top: good luck!

Santiago also has one of the most stunning backdrops of any city: the Andes. However, pollution and smog make it really hard to enjoy them , even on a sunny and hot day.
