Around Mendoza

Mount Aconcagua

Crossing the Andes from Santiago to Mendoza reveals a completely different environment. The mountain landscapes become more arid, however the valleys below the Andes are lush and green even in summer, perfect for grape and olives.
This region of the central Andes is home to mighty mount Aconcagua, the highest mountain worldwide outside of the Himalayas region. The road to the Aconcagua park is stunning and incredibly steep, and includes the famous 365 curves, and el Puente de los Incas, a natural complex resembling a bridge with thermal waters.

The CaƱon of Atuel, south of Mendoza

About four hours south of Mendoza, this spectacular canyon offers amazing views and landscapes, enjoyed in a temperature of over 40 degrees!

El vino!

And finally, no trip to Mendoza would be complete without a visit to the many wineries and 'bodegas'  around town! Other than Malbec, the most famous regional wine, with a fruity and sweet flavour, I have discovered a lovely white wine, 'Torrentes'. Similarly sweet and fruity, it makes a perfect drink in the hot Mendoza summer!
