Perito Moreno and the glaciers

El Perito Moreno

People often ask me what is the best thing I have ever seen during my travels... I think I now know the answer: el Perito Moreno!! This magnificent glacier, and the other five glaciers that can be reached by Lago Argentino, offer incredible views and a magic atmosphere. Trekking on the glacier was an incredible experience...

Trekking on the glacier

Time for "crampones"

The trekking

And finally whiskey with glacier ice!

Immense!

The Glacier lake

On the other side of the lake lie four more glaciers, including the Spegazzini glacier, at 130m the highest of the lot. The best part of the boat ride was navigating through the icebergs that broke off from the glaciers...

El Chalten

Two hours north of Calafate, where Perito Moreno is, the glaciers continue in the Fitz Roy valley. The Fitz Roy is a magnificent rock that can be seen after a long trek in along lakes and into the forests of the national park. The weather changes all the time, and in the same day i experienced hot sunshine, freezing cold rain and the fastest wind I have ever seen, but it was well worth it!
